| as i was laboring over a series of paint wheels and trying out different palette paint selections, i painted this exercise to examine the effects of background washes of burnt sienna, yellow ochre, and gold ochre on paints glazed over them. i hadn't expected the way the palette lights up, and discovered that this is a very good exercise in controlling long brushstrokes. much of my self training has proceeded with these improvised methods to explore paint behavior. | ||
