we spent four days in florence and another four in the country before our week hiking in the italian alps. our first day in the tuscan countryside i sat in the garden of the villa and painted san gimignano and its towers in the southern distance. this took a little more than an hour to complete with a pan paint set. i found i wasn't thinking about some basic choices which caused mistakes. but i saw too that if you get the palette right, and paint with love, the water takes care of the poetry. and i love that dark sky against the edge of clouds! |
